Nantyglo FC

In recognition of Nantyglo FC and the children of the club. The club is based at Duffryn Park, Blaina.

Throughout March some of their Junior section took part in a challenge called March into spring.
This challenge involved the children and a parent walking/running/cycling 2 miles a day. So by the end of March, their overall target mileage was 62 miles with this challenge.

The club decided to use this challenge as a way to boost both mental and physical wellbeing for all involved, especially knowing the impact COVID was having on many, and they wanted to support their members as much as they possibly could in these very trying times.

Nantyglo FC then found a local charity called TIDY BUTT which helps people with mental health issues. This charity is run by Matthew Creel who is one of the ambassadors of the undefeated UFC fighter Jack Shore from Abertillery who is an inspiration to many, and has shown how you can achieve your goals and your dreams can come true with hard work.

The overall mileage these children achieved was an amazing 1875 miles in 1 month!. Which meant all involved had smashed their target mileage of 62 miles by 1813 miles!. As we all know March has had some challenging cold and wet weather, but yet these amazing children covered 1875 miles and also raised £1200 in sponsorship monies which will be split between the children’s football club and the charity TIDY BUTT.

Nantyglo FC is extremely and rightly so, very proud of all who took part, and as a Town Council we are all extremely proud of these young people, and also for the amazing work Nantyglo FC is undertaking with its members and our community. They are continuously looking, after all, their member's well-being, they are an inspiration to the children and they also undertaken community projects as well as playing/training football. These children and the club are an inspiration to the community,

Town Council would like to thank Nantyglo FC for the fantastic work they are doing with the young people and the things they have and are doing within our community.
