Spring Bank Holiday

Service arrangements for Monday, 25th May 2020

All our Council buildings remain closed to the public as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

We are focussing on delivering critical services to our communities during this unprecedented and difficult period, and we urge you only to contact us when it is necessary on the Bank Holiday.

The Piper Alarm service will also continue to operate. Enquiries regarding Piper lifeline alarms out of office hours should be directed to 0845 056 8035.

Remember - you can submit reports, requests and applications to us through the My Services customer portal on our website www. blaenau-gwent.gov.uk or via the Blaenau Gwent mobile app available from the Apple, Google Play and Windows app store.

Waste & Recycling

Waste & recycling services, including nappy/hygiene collections and green waste will continue as normal. Please place your waste and recycling out for collection by 7am of the day of collection.

The New Vale Household Waste Recycling Centre in Ebbw Vale is due to open on Tuesday, 26th May. Strict guidelines are in place for visiting the site, including a maximum of 4 black bags & no textiles, and you can attend by booked appointment only. Vulnerable People

We will continue to prioritise care to our elderly and vulnerable residents. Our Locality Response Teams will continue to work with those who have no other support during this time, and with those who have been officially advised to shield themselves for 12 weeks.

Death Registrations

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the registration of deaths is taking priority. You can now do this over the phone, provided a medical certificate has been provided by a doctor. This service will be unavailable on Bank Holiday Monday and will resume on Tuesday, 26th May. Please call 01495 353372.

Childcare Hubs & Lunches

Our Childcare Hubs will continue to be open for children of keyworkers on the Bank Holiday. Direct payments for eligible Free School Meal pupils are continuing.
