Safeguarding Vulnerable Children

During this crisis, we are still here to protect the most vulnerable in our society. Unfortunately, abuse still takes place every day.

Abuse can take many forms, including:

• Neglect
• Physical abuse
• Sexual abuse
• Emotional abuse

Domestic abuse also has a detrimental effect on a child’s well-being.

If you suspect that a child is being abused or neglected, or a child tells you that they are being abused, please contact us on 01495 315700 or the emergency contact team on 0800 328 4432. If a child is at immediate risk of harm call 999.

Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults

During this crisis, we are still here to protect the most vulnerable in our society. Unfortunately, abuse still takes place every day.

Abuse can take many forms and can happen anywhere - at home, in a residential or nursing home, a hospital, in the workplace, at a day centre or educational establishment, in supported housing or in the street.

• Physical abuse

• Sexual abuse
• Psychological or emotional abuse
• Financial or material abuse
• Neglect
• Discriminatory abuse
• Institutional abuse

Any of these forms of abuse can be either deliberate or be the result of ignorance, or lack of training, knowledge or understanding. Often, if a person is being abused in one way they are also being abused in other ways.

If you suspect that a vulnerable adult is being abused, please contact our Safeguarding Unit on 01495 315700, or e-mail: dutyteam@blaenau-gwent.gcsx.gov.uk
