VE Day 80th Celebrations

On the 8th of May we celebrated the 80th anniversary of VE Day at the War Memorial in Central Park, Blaina. Attending was Councillors and officers of Nantyglo and Blaina Town Council, members of the Blaina Branch of the Royal British Legion, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Gwent Mrs Susan Gwyer-Roberts, Nantyglo and Blaina Borough Councillors Cllr Lisa Winnett, Cllr John P Morgan, Cllr Peter Bladwin and Cllr Sonia Behr, representatives of Gwent Police Neighbourhood Policing Team, pupils and teaching staff from Blaenycwm Primary School, Coed-Y-Garn Primary School, Ysgol Gyrmaeg Bro Helyg and Ystruth Primary School as well as various members of the public. The service was conducted by Reverand Roy Watson.
