Summer Play in the Park
The summer Play in the Park session for the Nantyglo and Blaina area will take place on Tuesdays: 30th July, 6th August, 13th August, 20th August at Central Park, Surgery Road, NP13 3AY. See the poster here for more details.
The Sugarcraft Club at Blaina Institute are inviting you to join them on Thursday 13th June 2019 between 11am and 1pm to enjoy a cuppa and homemade cakes. Any donations go to the Alzheimer's Society.
Annual Meeting 2019
Nantyglo and Blaina Town Council's Annual Meeting took place on Tuesday 21st May 2019. Councillor Ken Jones, JP was inaugurated as Town Mayor for civic year 2019-20, his consort being his wife, Mrs Joyce Jones. Deputy Mayor for civic year 2019-20 is Councillor Des Hillman. Councillor Jones, JP announced that his Mayoral Appeal for 2019-20 will be in aid of the Citizens Advice Bureau. We would like to congratulate both Councillor K Jones, JP and Councillor D Hillman and wish them well for their terms of office.

Achievement and Recognition in the Community Awards (ARC)
The ARC awards ceremony took place on Thursday 4th April 2019, where members of the Nantyglo & Blaina community were recognised and awarded for their services to the community. The awards given were:

Come and see the story of the Blaina Riots 1935. The exhibition is open to the public between 18th and 28th March 2019 (Monday - Thursday 10am-2pm; Friday 10am-12 noon).
The Town Mayor is holding a concert on 5th March 2019 at St Peter's Church, Blaina. This concert is in aid of the Mayoral Appeal, Phoenix Domestic Abuse Service. Tickets cost £3 available from the Town Council Offices, Blaina Post Office and St Peter's Church.

Deed of Gift - Blaina Band
The Town Council has recently gifted the instruments back to Blaina Band. The instruments have been with the Town Council for safe-keeping, ensuring the security of the future of the band. Councillor D Hillman presented Mr Colin Jones, Bandleader with the official Deed of Gift at the annual Blaina Band Christmas Concert which was held at Blaina Heritage Centre on 17th December 2018.

On Tuesday 23rd October 2018, Nantyglo and Blaina held an awards presentation for those who took part in Nantyglo and Blaina In Bloom. This was the first year for the Town Council to hold such an event which was subsequently very successful. The results were:

Food bags and dog waste bags
Nantyglo and Blaina Town Council are now a supplier of food waste bags and dog fouling bags. Please collect your bags during office hours (Mon-Thurs 9am-3pm; Friday 9am-1pm).
This is a County Borough Review by The Boundary Commission, and this is the second consultation stage. The Commission's recommendation of Option A is reducing the number of County Borough Councillors from 42 to 33 and the electoral wards from 16 to 14.
Initially established by Communities First several years ago, the group meet at William Powell Memorial Hall in Bourneville every Wednesday from 10am until 12 noon.. Please see the poster for details.
