Help raise awareness of male violence towards women.

White Ribbon Day 2020

White Ribbon Day is an annual event that marks the United Nation’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

This year, White Ribbon Day takes place on Wednesday 25 November and we need your help.

Incidents of domestic abuse affect thousands of women and their families and, for some, this has been exasperated this year due to Covid restrictions. It is now more important than ever to raise awareness of violence against women by showing support on White Ribbon Day.

The #149Challenge

The latest Femicide Census report shows that in 2018 149 women were killed by men in the UK. More than half were killed by a former spouse or partner, and almost all of them were committed by a man known to the victim.

To raise awareness of this shocking figure, schools, organisations, sports teams and community groups across Gwent are being encouraged to complete a challenge this November that focuses on the number 149.

This could be anything from walking or running for 149 minutes, to writing a poem 149 words in length. You can also your support by printing off the White Ribbon template and displaying in your window. The choice is yours.

For ideas on how to get involved, download the toolkit and resources below.

All we ask is that you show your support by sharing your commitment on social media. The resource toolkit contains a few readymade posts and a range of images for you share.
